Rhodiola has been found to improve symptoms of burnout, which can occur due to chronic stress. It offers treatment of symptoms related to stress and can prevent stress-related health complications as well. This has been used as traditional medicine for centuries, particularly in Russia, Scandinavia and other regions.

Schisandra

Schisandra is used traditionally to treat poor liver function and liver disease. Your liver is a very important organ in the fat burning process. The liver is responsible for turning fatty acids into ketones which can then be used by your brain and body for fuel. If your liver function is sub-optimal you will not maximise fat burning or detoxification. In fact, it may be the one thing that brings your fat loss to a grinding halt. If toxins are not eliminated your body will create extra fat tissue to try and safely store them.

GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid naturally produced in the brain. GABA functions as a neurotransmitter, facilitating communication among brain cells. Melatonin

Melatonin works to regulate your body’s circadian rhythm. Your circadian rhythm is your body’s internal clock; it lets you know when it’s time to sleep, wake and eat. Melatonin also binds to receptors in the body to help you relax. For instance, melatonin binds to receptors in the brain to help reduce nerve activity. In the eyes, it can help reduce dopamine levels, a hormone that helps you stay awake. Melatonin levels start to rise in your body when it is dark outside, signalling to your body that it is time to sleep. Conversely, light suppresses melatonin production. There are many factors that may cause low levels of melatonin production at night including stress, smoking, exposure to too much light at night, not getting enough natural light during the day, shift work and aging. Evidence shows that taking melatonin before bed can help you get to sleep.
